MOD MINIMALIST MIA: I would describe my style is mod-minimalist. I am very influenced by the 1960s, fashion wise. My style is pretty simple in that I tend to shy away from bold prints and/or lots of crazy accessories and jewelry. Instead I am really interested in the shape of clothing, proportion of outfits, solid colors, and the architectural elements and balance. INSPIRATION: I am really inspired by art, films, old photographs, geometry, and proportion. I love minimalist fashion and art as well. I am really influenced by Miuccia Prada’s designs, the art of Kazimir Malevich, Wes Anderson’s films, dolls, and mostly, dresses and clothing that are meant to be worn by little girls. They always have the cutest dresses that I wish I could squeeze into. As far as people and style icons go, I really love the sexiness and proportional balance of Brigitte Bardot’s wardorbe in the 1960s. I am also very inspired by artist Hannah Metz. She owns a wonderful vintage store in Pasadena that I love and her husband Landon is one of my favorite artists too. I am also very inspired by the models of the 1960s such as Twiggy, Jean Shrimpton, and the singer Maryanne (sp.?) Faithful.FASHION GOALS: I am currently a student in college studying english and writing. If I could somehow combine my two passions (writing and fashion) my life, career wise, would be complete. I would love to continue modelling as long as I can but at some point, I feel like I would like to move to different aspect/focus of the fashion world. MAGUIRE THE WRITER: Oh! well I suppose I just half-way answered this question in the #3. But yes, right now my major is undeclared as I am trying to figure out what type of college I will be tranferring to next fall since this will determine the availability of majors once there. My dream job would be a creative director, copy editor, or even copy writer for a fashion and/or arts and culture magazine. My favorites are Lula, Interview, V, French Vogue, Acne Paper, etc.IF YOU COULD STEAL ANY THREE ITEMS WHAT WOULD THEY BE? Oh man this is tricky! Well right now there are a few items I am really lusting over. The first is an Alexander Wang Emilie Bag with silverish metal detailing on the bottoms. It costs like, a grand or something so its not really in my price range but it is the perfect bag that is modern, chic, and updated yet, not too trendy. Next, I would steal a pair of Marsell lace up booties in black from Barneys. These boots are absolutely perfect. I would wear them with anything. What is so special about them is how wearable and flattering they are on the foot and to the thighs. I have a big problem with shoes because though many aren’t aware of it they can be rather un-flattering and throw off the shape and balance of an outfit making one look “off.” Lastly, I would probably steal an Acne leather jacket. Their leather is buttery and luxurious and makes anything you have on look instantly cool. FALLING IN LOVE: I live in Southern California so unfortunately, our seasonal change is pretty minimal. For instance, right now on Oct. 12, the temperature today is going to be 91 degress. Granted, this is really, really hot from our usual temperate climate of mid 70’s but it leaves us girl really craving the cold. However, though heavy coats or even light blazers won’t be necessary for awhile, I really love to play with color. I love, love, love burnt organge colors, rich canary yellow colors, and chocolately browns. I also like to add more fun colors to my signiture high-waisted trouser pant collection and have more fun with that. I also really love circle scarfs. They really do instantly transform even a basic, dull outfit and make it look a bit more chic. I also really love being able to re-incorporate suede into my wardrobe, especially in terms of boots! Lace up boots are also a comfrotable fall essential for me as are comfy, soft, and usually vintage boyfriend cardigans in subtle colors like creams and greys. Lastly, I really love a peter pan, doll-like collar. I have several blouses with these colors in which I layer under velvet dresses and sweaters for a flirtier look. HALLOWEEN COSTUME: I am so excited for Halloween! I have a couple of options and ideas in mind. Last year, I attempted to be Margot Tennenbaum from the Wes Anderson film, The Royal Tennenbaums. UNfortunately, I accidently got a grey colored wig that was super long. So I had to cut the wig’s wirey grey locks into a short bob. I got the outfit right and all but, the hair thing really threw the look off. I might try this costume again. However, my boyfriend really wants to do a couple costume so we are thinking about being Sonny and Cher.

This is a book I will undoubtedly be investing in.
